How to Choose a Solar Flood Light

A solar flood light runs entirely on energy collected from the sun using solar panels, so it can be installed almost anywhere the sun can reach the panels. The number of photons reaching the Earth every hour is enough to meet the energy needs of the entire planet for a year. As the possibilities and costs of using solar energy become greater and lower, more and more people are becoming interested in the solar option. Type

There are three types of solar panels you can use:

Amorphous Solar Panels – These panels have the lowest efficiency at around 10% and are mainly used to replace low power electronics such as mobile phones. These panels are found in cheap, low-power solar lights.

Mono crystal line Solar Panels - These are the most efficient solar panels, with efficiencies ranging from 15% to 21%. However, they are very expensive. Powerful solar lights tend to use mono crystal line solar panels. Mono crystalline panels are considered the most efficient, with cell efficiencies (how much solar energy can be harvested and converted into electricity) between 15-21%, but they are also the most expensive. Poly crystalline solar panels - These have 16% cell efficiency and are cheaper to manufacture. These panels differ from others in that the solar panels are dark blue in color. Poly crystalline panels also offer good cell efficiencies of up to 16%, but are cheaper to manufacture. Poly crystalline panels usually have dark blue solar cells, which makes these panels easy to distinguish from other panels. Mono crystal line and poly crystal line panels are installed in commercial buildings and homes that require large-scale solar systems. These panels are highly battery efficient and can be seen under powerful solar lights.


Watts

Wattage is the most important solar panel measurement. It shows how much power the panel can generate when the conditions are right. For example, a 10W solar panel can generate 10 watt-hours of electricity per hour. The more intense the light, the higher the wattage required for the panel to produce the light. A 1.5-watt solar panel can produce hundreds of lumens of light; larger lights require 10 to 20-watt solar panels. The greater the lighting power, the higher the wattage panel required to light it. For example, a low wattage light that produces a few hundred lumens of light can be run from a 1 to 5 watt solar panel, while a larger light will require a 10 to 20 watt solar panel.


Size

The size of the solar panel depends on the wattage of the lamp and the material of the panel. Before purchasing a solar light fixture, you have to consider not only whether the location you want to install will get enough sunlight during the day, but also whether there is enough physical area to install the solar panel if you want a high powered flood light. Thin-film solar panel designs mono crystal line solar panels produce the same amount of electricity as smaller panels. Before buying a solar light, consider where it will be installed and whether it will get enough sunlight. If high-power floodlights are required, is the area for installing solar panels sufficient?
